Cleveland Ohio has a long varied history of bringing people together. From the fist landing on the Cuyahoga River by a freemason named Moses Cleaveland in 1796. General Cleaveland, with a surveying party, coasted along the shore and on July 22, 1796, landed at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. He ascended the bank, and, beholding a beautiful plain covered with a luxuriant forest-growth, divined that the spot where he stood, with the river on the west and Lake Erie on the north, was a favorable site for a city. He accordingly had it surveyed into town lots, and the employees named the place Cleaveland, in honor of their chief.
Over time and history Cleaveland became Cleveland, with respect to the city name and the Cuyahoga River, I would hope Clevleand would adopt a logo consistent to the beliefs, history and memories of distance past, present , and future. I think it would be nice to adopt the Bridge as a logo of Cleveland.
The historic bridges of Cleveland have given Cleveland and its beauty and splendor many memories of hard work, pride and have given Cleveland residents a backbone on which to travel, cross the rivers, streets, and valleys. As we network, not only by phone, computer, the internet, we network as we travel. Often in our daily lives we miss out on the various views of nature and bridge like the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway Bridge and the Innerbelt Bridge don't give us quite a chance to take the time, or slow down, and view the Cuyahoga River, the flats, downtown, Lake Erie or view each turn of the Cuyahoga River.
The Lorain Carnegie Bridge does give us a better chance, as does the Detroit - Superior Bridge, to view the river, to walk, jog, run, or ride a bike along the wonders of the bridges. Wlking or riding down into the Flats or the Warehouse District gives us a quiet view of the early days, historic buildings, the river, and Lake Erie. We can as well, see others enjoy the views, some live or work in the area. I've had many cchances to see outsiders take pictures, or take the time to stop and talk, and enjoy the area, as well as take a daily walk or jog along the streets of the Warehous District.
I think it is time to form a logo out of a Cleveland area Bridge, and make it our city of Cleveland logo.
